All About Boho Chic

Boho Chic: a style characterised by floaty fabrics, nonchalant chicness, and soft hues. The style, with its free-spirited nuance and iconic aesthetic is back, arguably better than ever. When thought about the boho style, past thoughts would focus on the 70s and the bohemian aesthetic. Whilst that look is still iconic, the current style is brought back as “boho chic” adding a cool edge to the otherwise soft and romantic boho style. The current revival is characterised by a blend of traditional bohemian elements, such as a soft colour palette with different accessories and styling, giving it a contemporary makeover. The new boho chic does not require full commitment, thus appealing to the new generation of fashion lovers. You don’t have to commit to a bohemian silhouette, instead, you can add boho through pops of jewellery, leather or suede accessories, and much more.

The new boho chic resurgence is being led by two iconic brands: Chloé and Isabel Marant. The first comeback of boho followed the Chloé summer/spring 2024 campaign with wedge sandals and floaty dresses being the style statement for the season. Slowly after, through social media and fashion campaigns, Isabel Marant is now better than ever. With its platform sneakers, boho silhouettes and clothing style, Marant does this boho chic like no other.

The evolution of Boho Chic was originally rooted in the cultural movements of the 1960s and 1970s, however, the modern bohemian style gained popularity in the 2000s with icons like the Olsen Twins, Kate Moss, and Sienna Miller becoming cover faces of the look. However nowadays, we see a more evolved and low-key sub-style. The boho chic style does not require a full commitment, it is more about pops of bohemian as an ode to the original version with personal twists. It has a cool and elegant undertone, meaning glam accessories, statement bags and statement outerwear.

The core vibe of the style remains similar: flowy blouses, cascading ruffles, lace accents, neutral tones, fluffy coats and suede/leather accessories. It takes a chic turn on the romantic silhouette with groovy cuts meeting personal touches. Think of it as a modern Kate Moss or Serena Van Der Woodsen.

The revival of the current boho style is partially due to the emergence of the “boho chic” and it being promoted on social media. It takes a chic yet daring turn on the normally romantic and flowy style of boho fashion. Many designers including Chloé and Isabel Marant have showcased this blend in their Spring/Summer 2025, with flowy fabrics, lace and romantic colours being paired with leather accessories and glam jewellery.

The boho chic style embraces sustainability, with an emphasis on vintage finds. With vintage bags like Chloé Paddington and Isabel Marant sneakers stealing the show, there is a huge trend where vintage finds and designer items have increased in value. Moreover, vintage suede, leather jackets, and faux fur coats have increased in popularity as the go-to boho-chic outerwear.

Incorporating boho chic elements into your outfits is quite simple, yet a powerful way to elevate daily looks. It remains chic whilst incorporating the romantic undertones of boho style. The original boho style circa 2000s has a more rigid silhouette with a set-in-stone colour palette. However, the current take on Boho chic is much more laidback. It can be a pop of pastel with flowy shirts. It can be a statement blouse with heeled boots. It is all up to you and your personal style take. The popular pieces of the style tend to be flowy silhouettes; with maxi dresses, ruffled blouses, flowy skirts and wide-leg pants. Moreover, the fabric choice tends to remain a nod to the natural, with cotton, linen, suede, and leather to enhance the earthy feel. Boho chic is all about accessories, layered necklaces, bangles, scarves and rings. The combination of metals with the flowy fabrics creates the perfect fashionable

contrast. Similarly balancing the softness of the style with leather accessories, belts and boots.
