The City of Paris fashion museum, the Palais Galliera, reopened its doors in the wake of the covid pandemic to present its exhibition, ‘Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto’. The first part of the exhibition showcases the designer’s style evolution using iconic garments from each stage of her career, including the famed mariniére, the sailor blouse, from 1916. The second part allows visitors to decipher Chanel’s dress codes, in an attempt to suss out which color schemes, accessories, materials, etc. were intrinsic to the brand.
