What to Wear at the End of the Pandemic Year
The end is nigh, dear readers.
And no, though it may seem fitting after the year we’ve had, I’m not talking about the apocalypse. It’s been a little over a year since the world shut down to combat the Novel Coronavirus, and at long last, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. June 21st, that blessed calendar date that’s been promised to mark the end of this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year, is fast approaching, and with it, comes the reappearance of all our favourite summer pastimes. Whether you spend this season sipping Aperol Spritzes by a hotel pool, finally seeing your favourite artist at an outdoor concert, or just reuniting with friends and family, the best will be a lack of ever-present worry. We will no longer have to fear daily tasks, or fret over whether or not Grandma is posting anti-mask articles on Facebook (well, maybe we do, but we won’t have to pay attention to it as much).
However, one concern does seem to linger for me: with the sure onslaught of social activity in the upcoming months, what is a poor girl to wear? I’m sure the same query is consuming your thoughts, too. Well, I’m here to rescue you: peruse below for my guide to dressing to the nines for every post-COVID occasion.
For your June 21st day-drinking event:
Missoni-esque halter tops, purple suede pants, Monet-patterned day dresses, and sunglasses with coloured lenses.
For your first post-COVID house party:
Printed mesh co-ords, lightweight corset tops, low-rise distressed jeans, and pastel platform Converse.
For the return to your favourite club:
Glittery gold slacks, Y2K halter dresses, metallic leather mules, and lace-up latex miniskirts.
For your (now in-person) Tinder date:
Ruched floral tube tops, ivory silk waistcoats, micro-cropped halter tops, and freshwater pearls.
And finally, for your at-long-last legal tropical holiday:
Tie-dye sarongs (with a matching bikini, of course), woven maxi dresses, 70s-era playsuits, and colourful vintage sunglasses.
